Akua modifiers allow the artist to experiment with different levels of transparency, viscosity and workability.
Extender medium is used to thin Akua Kolor if it becomes too thick. It is amber in colour with a liquid consistency. Cleans up with water. Not recommended for use with Akua Intaglio Inks.
Retarder medium retards the drying time of Akua Kolor on the monotype plate, thus extending the drying time. It also helps transfer ink onto dry paper when printing monotypes when a few drops of Extender is mixed into the Akua Kolor. Extender is ideal for hot and dry or very cold studio conditions. Cleans up with water. Not recommended for use with Akua Intaglio Inks.
Tack Thickener thickens Akua Kolor for heavier roll-up applications. It can be used for creating denser Akua Kolor roll-ups onto monotype plates or woodblocks. It is not as thick as Transparent Base or Akua Intaglio Ink. It is amber in colour with a consistency similar to molasses. Tack Thickener cleans up in soapy water.
